Product design team project as a mechanical engineer and financial coordinator. Attended interviews with industry personnel on and conducted field research for areas in which possible product niches were unfulfilled. Ideated possible products to fill these niches and then downselected based on viability, interest, and market interest/benefit. Modeled ideas, conceptually tested mechanisms, and finally landed on an automated aquaculture feed distributor. Developed a final fully functional prototype and presented to a 1000+ audience.
- Developed a fish feeding mechanism connected to a sensor suite that dispenses kilograms of feed according to farmer inputs and tank oxygen and temperature levels
- Brought an automatic aquaculture feeding system from idea conception through validation testing to a $2,000 design that can save fish farmers $80,000 annually on feed and labor in a market worth $1.5 billion
- Managed a project budget of $7,500 and presided over design decisions to ensure product quality while minimizing manufacturing costs
